Finishing up our House

We have been working hard to finish furnishing our house, but really it was Lee who did the finishing.  While I was in AZ for Kimberly’s wedding, Lee was so busy.  The first thing I saw when I walked into the house was:

The Bookshelf

The wood is pretty inexpensive, so he spent a buIMG_1043nch of time sanding, finishing and coating it to make it look so nice.  It is very sturdy and it is wonderful to be able to unpack all the boxes.  But the surprises kept coming.

The Pantry

Lee took our coat closet and gave me a space to store food.  The kitchen cupboards are filled all the way with dishes, pots, accessories and there is very little space for real food in the kitchen.  So he saved us by building me a nice set of shelves.  We are still filling it will cans/ boxed goods and that will take us a while.  Don’t worry, we have another closet for coats, vacuum and things that normally go in a coat closet.

The Bunkbeds

IMG_1085Kaela gets a real bed, no more cot on the floor!  Though the room now doesn’t feel quite so large, she is loving being a big girl and climbing the ladder by herself.  Eliora is in her tent on the bed, for containment and custom sake, but she can also climb up into it from the floor.

The Bedroom

This was the biggest surprise, both in size and unexpectedness.  We had gone looking at bedroom sets together the week before and amazed at how pricey everything was.  We decided that we would stay sleeping on our air mattress for another few months while we thought about that.  Well, Lee decided that with a nice tax refund just arrived, we could afford to make the plunge now, rather than loose sleep for months.  I am so, so happy.  He brought home my favorite bed, though he didn’t know that it was the one I wanted.  I have never slept so well.
