So I took three extra days of vacation this last week. Combined with the already 3-day weekend from memorial day, this meant a lot of time to work on the porch.
The first step was sanding and painting the corner posts. After going over them with a belt sander for a few hours, we decided that it was worth the money to get a planer for the job. Despite the expense, it made the job probably 1/10th as long. Mommy got to work priming and painting boards (with occasional help from Eliora and Kaela) so that I could put them up.
Then Kristin and I got to use our professional framing skills to make our patio have walls. . .
Kristin helped a LOT, but she’s under-represented because usually she was the one taking photos of me. I will admit that I worked some late nights, trying to get as much done with my time off as possible. I’ve cut holes in the side of my house, patched them back up again, and built roof trusses.
Sunday night I finished the last roof truss. They’re just waiting to be placed and secured, and then I can start roofing this thing! Sadly, for now it’ll be back to work. . .
Can't wait to see it in person. You guys sure have been busy!
ReplyDeleteLooks real good.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how involved putting on a porch is! Looks like a LOT of work! But it's going to be marvelous when it's done!
ReplyDeleteWow! Very impressive progress! Yes, work gets in the way of projects all the time! Grrr...
