Well, I do want to finish up words about our trip, and it has been a long time since I posted. Our pictures are stored on an external hard drive and the driver fried a few weeks ago and I’ve been waiting for Lee to fix it so I can access everything. So, I believe that right now I have pictures and can continue our long saga.
After our hike with Jon and Danielle, we went and rescued our kids and drove up the the San Juan Islands. There are 4 main islands out in the Puget Sound, directly west of Seattle. They call it a desert rainforest up there because they are left with considerably less rain because it dumps all the rain on the surround areas instead. It was breathtaking.
We camped each night on Lopez Island. We tried the girls in their own tent the first night and it wasn’t very successful. No sleep for mom and dad. In the car they were much warmer and more sheltered from outside noises, so they slept better there.
We took ferries between the islands each day. Each island has it’s own character traits as the locals try to make each place different. I loved the sculpture garden that was full of very expensive pottery and sculptures. There was handmade art everywhere.
We climbed to the top of their highest mountain and could see all around. It was cloudy, but we could see out to the mainland and across to Canada. And we spent a day kayaking in a borrowed sea kayak.
This was Kaela’s first attempt to use chopsticks and I thought the result was memorable.
We all went out on a fun whale watching tour. I was seasick the whole time. But everyone else enjoyed the boat and we followed a pod of orcas around the island.
We ate good food, made fun memories and best of all spent it with friends. It was a memorable vacation, and I’m glad we went. It is probably about time I catch up on more current events, so this is probably the last of our UT/WA tour that ended two months ago.
I'm glad to see that you are posting again. I love to read and see what has been going on in your life.
