Madrid, Segovia, Toledo

Well, my parents arrived on Monday and we have been very busy.  We have spent several days in Madrid and have in addition taken day-trips to Segovia and Toledo.  Here are a few select photos:

Segovia Alcazar, the castle that supposedly Disney used as a model for Sleeping Beauty’s castle

La Puerta de Alcala, on the the original city gates back when Madrid had walls

The tree of European nations, all the leaves are shaped like the different countries

El Palacio Real, the royal palace of Spain

The roman aqueduct of Segovia, built nearly 2000 years ago and still in functional order!

Segovia’s Cathedral.  We weren’t able to go inside because it was closed for the New Year, but it was incredible to see.

The main city gates into Toledo, a truly medieval city where it still has most of the walls intact

Inside Segovia’s Alcazar, the place where Ferdinand and Isabella lived when Columbus left for America.

The cathedral of Toledo, which was more intricately decorated than any other building we’ve seen.

AWESOME! You finally posted! I like the picture of Dad with Eliora the most because he was so excited to go and see her.
