Eliora

Alright! Eliora is 6 months old! – at least she was when I started this post.  Though the month has passed and she is 7 months, I can now sum up the month:

Eliora is:

Sitting up unassisted and enjoying it very much.  She can’t get down yet without a major face-plant, but it is great to be able to set her anywhere.

                                         

Able to hold herself standing for a couple minutes against things.  She can’t pull up or anything, but the balance on two legs is pretty cool.  She doesn’t like it very much; she will stick out her bottom every time we try it and fold over, but we occasionally get some moments upright.

Eating solid foods.  Our repertoire includes rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, carrots, peas, green beans, squash and pears.  So far, so good.   She LOVES food and shakes excitedly when she sees me pull out the jar of baby food.  She is getting so good that she can eat nearly 1/2 a jar.

She has also enjoyed sand, grass and paper, but we don’t include those in our list of foods

Scooting. This is a new one, just this week.  She can only make it a little bit at a time, and only when she’s reaching for something, but she is moving inches.

Teeth – She has one on the bottom and the one next to  it will break through any day now.  Don’t stick your hand in there because it is bound to get hurt.

Her hair is coming in.  I know, it doesn’t look like it, but it is darker and no more bald spot.  I can brush it and see it move now, where is wasn’t before. I did have someone ask this week why I shaved her head, but I’m pretty sure that she’s got more now than she did a month ago.

Several other firsts:  I let her go down the slide (I was holding her arms) and swing in the swing at the park.   She had her first ear ache and dose of amoxicillin.  First time swimming in the pool.

   

It is so funny, she is getting so much personality.  She is changing fast and we are enjoying these steps as they come rapidly.
