So, you are all wondering, “Do they farm in Massachusetts?” Well, a little. They try and keep some small businesses going amid all the urban growth, probably to give all these ‘city kids’ an experience out of the city without taking them out. So today we visited Weir River Farm, just a short 15 min drive from home, and still in our ward boundaries.
On the farm they had three small fields where they planted various plants. The farm was about 10 acres, and about 1/2 of that was tree land; I’m sure that the main income does not come from selling produce. But they had a barnyard, which is really what we went to see. They had horses, sheep, goats, a llama and lots of chickens. Kaela’s favorite were the chickens, she watched them for a long time. The rooster even crowed for her. The goats were good too because they were friendly and we could pat them.
We had a fun time and took some pictures to share. Eliora was in the carrier, so there were no especially cute ones of her since I couldn’t see me taking the picture at all, but I got some great ones of Kaela.
Cute Girls!
