What Happened Here….

I cannot adequately explain how crazy our life has been these past few weeks (months, years….).  In reverse of how it happened, I’ll try to sum up.

Saturday:  Finals start tomorrow morning.  Yes, our 4 year anniversary falls right in the middle of them.  But this is the last finals week EVER!

Friday: Lee is right now in Florida for a contact lens seminar and I am babysitting the Cathell-Williams twins while their mom graduates.  But for Florida: All expenses paid trip to the Vistkon lab in Jacksonville where they have lots of seminars, good food and no babies to distract him from studying for finals.  He flew out Wednesday, got stuck in Baltimore with bad storms and got to his destination after midnight.  We hope the trip back tonight is better, but the weather is still predicting storms in Baltimore.

Wednesday: Lee defended his Master’s Thesis!  This is the culminating point of the degree!  He gave a 45 min presentation on the data he had collected and the results he drew from it.  They then excused the audience (me and about 3 others) so he could be grilled by his committee.  He says it wasn’t so bad – he knew his stuff, the ins out and whys of it all – but they were talking for at least 45 more minutes and when I came back in they said, “He Passed!”  So Lee will be graduating with his MS in Vision Science next week, a year before he finishes his OD.  He ran from that to catch the plane to FL.

Tuesday:  Lee found out late Tuesday that his upcoming clinic assignment needed some paperwork faxed right away.  Things like SSN, immunization records, etc.  They require a Varicella shot (chickenpox) and will NOT accept history of having it as sufficient.  So, Wednesday morning we were off the the health center to get the test to prove he has immunity before he ran off to his Thesis Defense.  I chose my favorite flowers and planted them in boxes on our balcony.

Monday:  Calm for me.  Lee went to clinic, class, group project stuff and got home around 11:00pm.  Lee is in a really cool business class this semester.  The final project is a group project to design your own Optometric Practice.  Out of 30 groups, the top 5 were selected to present to the class and compete for a cash prize.  His group was selected in that 5, but he wasn’t there to present.  So he wrote the powerpoint, added effects, sounds and his group basically just needed to press the PLAY button to give the presentation.  It was really neat to see.

Sunday: Mother’s Day.  We sang, “Love at Home” in our ward, which I think is the most AWFUL song you could EVER sing on Mother’s Day.   They sung it in my mom’s ward, and grandma’s, but missed Lee’s mom’s ward  :) Three of four.   Lee had to stay after and count tithing as the assistant ward clerk and total we were at church, including travel time  for about 6 hours.  Kaela missed her nap.  But she played and let Lee and I snuggle on the couch for 45 minutes and it was the greatest Mother’s Day gift she could have given me.

Saturday: We flew back from Florida where we had spent the previous week.  But that is a much more interesting post, with more pictures, so I’ll have to leave it to another naptime.
