The busy life of Eliora Jean

Eliora is now 2 months old!  In those two months, she has been a very busy little girl.  Yesterday she had her first major set of shots and we found some of her stats:

She is 23” long and weighs 11.8 lbs.

IMG_1517Two weeks ago we flew to Utah for my sister Shannon’s wedding.  Eliora had been congested for a couple weeks, but it escalated while we were there.  On Friday Kimberly noticed how hard Eliora was breathing, sucking in at her sides and flaring her nostrils and got worried.  I called my pediatrician and their response was, “Either call 911 or go the the emergency room.”  That was probably one of the most terrifIMG_0109ying things that has ever happened to me.  So we left Kimberly’s boys and Kaela in the care of my dad and ran over.  They measured her 02 levels and said she needed to be kept on oxygen and we were then sent by ambulance to Primary Children’s Hospital.  While in the hospital we were told she had RSV, a virus that affects many people with just a cold, but because she is still so tiny, she had a far worse condition.  She doesn’t really know how to cough, blow her nose and other practices adults  can use to remove mucus from our lungs.  So we had to suck hers out.  They called it Nasopharangyl or deep suctioning – they stuck a thin tube down her nose into her throat 6xs a day to get it all out.  It was very sad stuff.  We were in the hospital from Friday till Monday, missing our flight on Sunday.  Lee flew home with Kaela that day and I followed on Tuesday.

Before the wedding, Karalee came to visit.  It was a lightning trip of three15015_374284887195_688057195_3819092_5034635_n days mostly so she could help me with the girls in traveling back to Utah.  We took Kaela in the umbrella stroller and Eliora in the carrier and toured all of Boston from Bunker Hill down to the Common.  We rode the ferry, the train and did lots of walking.  Eliora mostly slept the entire day away, but then again, that is what new babies are supposed to do.  Karalee was such a good sport to help me drag my two girls around town and she was tons of help in the airports.

Eliora is getting so strong, with such support of her head.  I enjoy having a newborn and wish that I had more time to simply enjoy it, but Kaela keeps us running.
