Kaela's First Birthday!

Happy Birthday Kaela!

Monday, April 27^th:  Our little wonder has now been with us a year officially.  How the time has flown and life changed.  (We went on vacation between here and then, so it's late being posted.)

Birth 1 Year

Weight: 9lbs 8 oz 20 lbs. 14 oz

Height: 21” 28"

 Imagine the motor skills, the thoughts and the understanding level achieved.  I can hardly believe the time has gone – some slow, others fast – but all in all I can’t believe that we are parents to a toddler.  Where did the baby go?

Her Great-grandparents sent her a singing card.  We've gotten a lot of mileage out of a piece of paper and midi sound type.  :)

For her birthday (after spending the whole morning unsuccessfully looking for my keys), we turned her carseat face forward and hit the toy stores.  Lee, Kaela and I went to Target and went up and down the aisles, looking for favorites.  At first we put toys with her in the basket to see what she would play with.  That worked a bit, but it was much better when we just let her run. We had lots of fun.

The winner was soon obviously a big yellow rubber ball, which bounced when she threw it out of the cart.  We couldn’t get her to put it down.  We chose a few others: a Fun Cubed (see pic), stacking toy, jumbo (washable!) crayons, a board puzzle, and new shoes.  It is a lot of fun to have new toys that fit her age group – we haven’t really updated from her infant toys.

For the first time having cake, she didn’t give us much reaction.  She ate it happily, but she eats most everything happily.

And here is her opening her first present.  As you can see, it took some cajoling from Mom and Dad, but she seems to really like it.

We are so blessed to have this little wonder in our lives.  We hope the next years will be just as good!
